Eagle Rock, Lake Tahoe Elopement // Melissa + Alex
Melissa and Alex met on the dating app, Hinge. Melissa was the FIRST person to message Alex after moving to town but, Melissa had already been on the dating app for a while and was in the midst of debating on taking a break from the dating scene. Alex was super interested in meeting Melissa and now the two have a little joke that Alex had to double text Melissa to get her attention and set up their first date together which began at a brewery, moved to the local popular gay bar, and ended at a dive bar to watch a drag show!
A few dates in Alex knew Melissa was the one when Melissa went to hug Alex goodbye at the end of their date and wiggled out of excitement. Alex loved that Melissa was so willing to wear her emotions on her sleeve and was a little silly, just like herself.
After their engagement (they took turns proposing to one another!), they discussed what they wanted their wedding day to look like. For both of them, getting married in general and being able to legally combine their lives was more important to them than the big production aspect of a wedding. They also didn’t want the pressure of feeling like they needed to adhere to society’s “rules” and traditions of a wedding. So, they opted to elope in Lake Tahoe! Neither, Alex or Melissa had visited Lake Tahoe and wanted to tie their honeymoon into their elopement and believed that Lake Tahoe was the perfect way to start their marriage!
On their elopement day, we met at the Eagle Rock trailhead and hiked the 0.7 miles to the top where we took in the views of Lake Tahoe and all of the beautiful mountains. Alex and Melissa chose a location with a beautiful view to say their vows to one another. After their vows we took portraits at the top and ventured back down down to the beginning of the trail and walked down along Blackwood Creek and strolled along the side of the creek as the sunset.
After their elopement, Melissa and Alex traveled down to Napa Valley for some amazing wine and then to San Francisco before heading back to their home in Ohio and announcing their elopement.
