Cap Rock, Joshua Tree Elopement // Melody + Walberto

Melody & Walberto met online through Coffee Meets Bagel. Their first date was shared over beers and tacos where they learned that they actually went to the same college, UCLA, and had lived in the same dorm during their first two years of college, graduated the same year, and lived in the same exact city (just down the street from one another) at the time they met. What a coincidence!

Melody & Walberto decided on Joshua Tree as their elopement location because they had actually happened to have gone to Joshua Tree around the same time for the last two years, so why not make it a third! And this time it would be extra special, holding Joshua Tree in their hearts forever.

Melody, Walberto, and their family stayed nearby in an Airbnb in Indio, CA, about an hour from Joshua Tree. We met outside the park and all followed one another into the park since the elopement location at Cap Rock had no cell service and we all wanted to make sure we arrived safely to the right location!

Once we arrived at Cap Rock, their Officiant, Marie, helped Walberto put on his boutonniere and handed Melody her beautiful florals by The Nature of Things. We headed down the nature trail at Cap Rock and took family portraits with Melody’s parents and sister as well as Walberto’s father and sister. We even had a surprise little lizard guest make an appearance!

After family portraits, we continued around the trail and found a shaded location for them to exchange vows and officially become husband and wife. Their family members were able to share this special moment with the two of them and is one of the many ways you can include your family in your elopement.

Melody, Walberto, Marie, and I continued walking around the nature trail at Cap Rock for their bride and groom portraits as the sun set over the desert. We wrapped up the evening with a photo for their elopement announcement to share on social media with their loved ones who were not in attendance. We watched the sun set and were graced with a clear sky to witness the lunar eclipse and blood moon that night before we loaded up and parted ways.
