Picacho Peak Sunrise Elopement // Cassie + Kenzi
Cassie and Kenzi met me as soon as the gates open at 5:00 AM to Picacho Peak State Park. We drove into the park together and up to our trailhead, Calloway Trail. Only 0.8 miles to an absolutely stunning overlook in the park where we could truly enjoy the sunrise and Cassie and Kenzi could say their vows. Before heading up the trail, Cassie sat in their car and had Kenzi put on her orange floral tie (that she actually got from Amazon!) with only the light from the inside of their car as it was still dark outside.
We started our hike up and talked about Cassie and Kenzi’s adventures in Arizona so far and why they chose to move to Arizona from Massachusetts. Cassie and Kenzi absolutely love to hike, camp, and experience new places but neither of them had traveled out west before! So, they decided to pack up their belongings and temporarily move out to Tucson to fully submerge themselves in the west and to have that opportunity to be close to so many beautiful places where they could easily just pack up and drive where they wanted to go! Since they’ve moved, they’ve been able to visit White Sands National Park, Mt. Lemmon, the Salt River, Zion National Park, Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, Saguaro National Park, and SO many more amazing places in Arizona. These two are so inspiring and honestly straight GOALS.
When we reached the overlook at the end of Calloway Trail, Cassie and Kenzi pinned their boutonnieres one one another, made by Daisyhead Floral Co. and then sat on the bench at the overlook to enjoy the sunrise as we started to see those beautiful colors come through even with it being overcast.
We walked over to another viewpoint for Cassie and Kenzi to exchange their vows. Kenzi had initially wanted to go first, but just became overwhelmed with the emotions of the day. Kenzi kissed her forehead and decided to go first instead. Watching these two exchange their vows and listening to the promises that they were making to one another was truly so beautiful. These two are some of the most beautiful, caring, and souls that I’ve ever had a chance to photograph.
After saying their vows and sharing their first kiss, Cassie and Kenzi hummed their favorite song to one another as they danced and spun one another in the morning light, completely surrounded by saguaros on the top of a mountain.
